Abhisit Vejjajiva suggested on Friday officials of all state agencies uphold the bureaucratism and justice in the face of a speculated transfer of police chief Pol Gen Wichian Podbhosri. The former premier commented all state personnel who might be transferred under pressure should fight for the sake of justice and the bureaucratic system which, according to Mr Abhisit, might be allegedly exploited at the orders of the Puea Thai-led government. Mr Abhisit said it would be unjust if National Security Council chief Tawin Pleansri was replaced by Pol Gen Wichian. The Democrat Party leader said rumors Mr Tawin will be transferred only to give way for a besieged Pol Gen Wichian were unnecessarily raising concerns in the bureaucratic circle. The NSC chief is speculated to be transferred to a position attached to the Prime Minister's Office. ''State officials should not only fight for themselves but for the bureaucratic system. It remains to be seen what purpose the current government might have for any transfer of state officials besides possible motives to put their own men in preferable positions,'' said the ex-premier. Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung earlier said senior police officers may be transferred on ''putting the right man on the right job'' basis and that Pol Gen Wichian himself had already offered to be moved to the NSC in place of Mr Tawin, leaving the post of police chief to Pol Gen Preawpand Damapong. Pol Gen Preawpand is viewed as the most senior deputy police chief and brother of Khunying Podjaman na Pompet, ex-spouse of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Mr Chalerm added the ''voluntary'' transfer of Pol Gen Wichian from the National Police to the NSC will be notified to the cabinet next Tuesday. Produced by VoiceTV |
