Pol Gen Preawpand Tipped to Become Top Cop
 Pol Gen Preawpand Damapong is largely speculated to be named police chief next week.
Pol Gen Achiravit Supanpesat, member of the Police Committee, confirmed on Wednesday Pol Gen Preawpand, who is currently acting police chief, will be promoted as police chief effective on Saturday.
Pol Gen Preawpand will replace police chief Pol Gen Wichian Podbhosri, who is taking leave for an overseas tour, according to Pol Gen Achiravit.
Pol Gen Preawpand, who has stepped up an anti-drug campaign nationwide, is brother of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s ex-spouse Khunying Podjaman na Pompet.
Pol Gen Wichian is speculated to be moved to an undersecretary post attached to a government portfolio.
