Yingluck's Fried-Noodle Gimmick To Be Clarified

The Puea Thai Party has offered to counter allegations Prime Minister-designate Yingluck Shinawatra had handed out fried noodles for free to constituents of Nakorn Ratchasima.

Puea Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit announced on Friday the party’s legal staff will be readied to clarify to the Election Commission the allegations the top party contender running for MP in Sunday's nationwide polls had managed to give away dishes of fried noodles to supporters in downtown Nakorn Ratchasima during her electoral campaign in late May.

As a matter of fact, Ms Yingluck was merely asked by a noodle vendor to take part in the cooking of the Korat noodles, all ingredients of which had been provided by the woman merchant herself, according to the party spokesman.

‘Leading members of all political parties would join in such activity during their electoral campaigns without intent to woo any votes,’ he said.

The provincial polling agency had already investigated the event in which the woman leader, who was seen in the media frying the noodles, was alleged of having the food handed out to the constituents for free.

She might possibly be delivered a red card on electoral rigging charges, which will automatically deprive her of an MP status only if found guilty as alleged.
