Chalermchai Named Democrat Party's Secretary General

Chalermchai Sri-on was on Saturday named secretary general of the Democrat Party replacing former deputy premier Suthep Thuagsuban.   The former labor minister and current MP of Prajuab Kirikan has become second in line of command while former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva retained his top party leadership after he had resigned in the face of the Democrats' defeat in last month's electoral contests to the Puea Thai Party, which is currently leading a six-party coalition government. Both assumed their top executive posts uncontested during Saturday's caucus of the country's oldest party. The Democrats are currently performing as opposition MPs in parliament after a few-years rule in the executive branch.   Produced by VoiceTV
