| In addition to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, three lesser-known women are tipped to take seats in her post-election cabinet.
Those include two elected lawmakers, namely Boonruen Sritaret and Sukumon Kunpluem. The other is said to be an unelected Nalinee Taveesin. Mrs Boonruen, a Puea Thai MP of Kalasin, and Mrs Sukumon, a Palang Chon MP of Chonburi, are both speculated to grab a cabinet seat, either in charge of education or culture under the Yingluck cabinet. A 68-year-old Boonruen is a veteran MP who was named vice chair of the House Committee on Religion, Arts & Culture and that of the House Committee on Education. Mrs Sukumon, a first-time legislator, is spouse of former cabinet member Sontaya Kunpluem, de facto head of the Chonburi-based Palang Chon Party. A 51-year-old Nalinee, who ironically ranked at rock bottom on the Puea Thai party list of contestants in last month's polls, is tipped to assume a cabinet post, either in charge of education or foreign affairs of the Puea Thai-led government. In 2006, Mrs Nalinee was elected senator before the Upper House was automatically dissolved by the coup which deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra later that year. She has directed the Institute of Future Studies for Development and a media firm. Produced by VoiceTV Source : AFP (Image) |
