Ministry of Education to repair 2,000 flood-affected schools and postpone school term

Ministry of Education to repair 2,000 flood-affected schools and postpone school term.

 

Education Minister VorawatUaapinyakul (วรวัจน์ เอื้ออภิญญกุล) revealed that over 2,300 schools in 13 provinces have been ravaged by flood waters, with damages valuing up to 1,400 million baht.

 

The schools in all 13 provinces have postponed the opening of the new school term to November 15 or until the flood situation eases. In addition, the ministry has also extended the first GAT-PAT examination to December 24 to 27.

 

In addition, the ministry has also introduced relief programs to reconstruct damaged school buildings after the water recedes. Officials will be deployed to repair schools, fix broken electrical devices as well as organize training courses.

 

A budget of 700 million baht will also be set aside to help teachers and students affected by the floods. Students will receive school materials and uniforms and parents will be offered career workshops free-of-charge.
