Yingluck to Lunch With Top Brass Aboard Aircraft Carrier
Military leaders will ask Yingluck Shinawatra to lunch with them aboard Jakri Naruebet aircraft carrier, said Defense Minister Gen Yuttasak Sasiprapa on Thursday.
The special luncheon between the woman premier and the top brass is yet to be scheduled, according to the defense minister.
The navy's HMS 911 Jakri Naruebet, a Spanish-built aircraft carrier fitted with a few secondhand US-made AV-8B jump jets, is regularly anchored at Sataheep naval base.
''The military leaders will gladly show Ms Prime Minister a very big picture of our military forces,'' said Gen Yuttasak without elaborating.
The defense minister lunched on Thursday with the military leaders and their spouses on a New Year occasion, namely army chief Gen Prayudh Chan-ocha, navy chief Adm Surasak Roonrerngrom, air force chief ACM Ittaporn Supawong, supreme commander Gen Tanasak Patimapakorn and defense undersecretary Gen Satian Permtong-in.
Gen Yuttasak is widely known as a working link between the elected government led by the Puea Thai Party, loyal to former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, and the military. He ran for MP on a Puea Thai party list in last July's nationwide polls.
