FROC's Advice for Evacuees: October 29

FROC's Advice for Evacuees: October 29

The Flood Relief Operations Center provides Evacuation Guidelines for Bangkok residents who prefer to be sheltered by the government either in the capital or upcountry.

Flood Relief Operations Center Spokesperson, TongThong Jantarangsu (ธงทอง จันทรางสุ) yesterday informed the public about general guidelines on how to evacuate to the government prepared shelters.

He said that residents should…

·        carry their important documents such as their citizen ID card, hose registration, as well as essential items such as drinking water, medicines, flashlight, and plastic bags

·        Those who decided not to evacuate should identify themselves to the community leader

·        The group leader should name an easy-to-remember-group name, have a list of group members ready to hand to the authority, and designate a member to monitor the news

·        Once the vehicle arrived at the meeting point, let the children and the elderly get in first, the leader last

·        When arrives at the evacuation center the authority will coordinate with the civil department who would perform the check-in process, while the government agents will be in charge of providing other necessities

In a related matter Samuprakan Governor, Chirdsak Shusri (เขิดศักดิ์ ชูศรี), announced through the FROC that the province had prepared parts of Marine Academy as a flood evacuation center.

The venue can shelter approximately 1500 flood victims.

As for concerns of chemical leaks in the industrial zone, the Samuprakan Governor said that he already instructed the factory owners to relocate such hazardous chemical from the risk areas.

The province had also handed out 50 electrical discharge detectors to all of its districts as another preventive measure.
