US Servicemen, Copters to Help With Don Muang Flood
A group of 30 United States servicemen are joining efforts to help out people affected by sustained flooding in Don Muang.
The US servicemen will carry out relief missions from Tuesday until Sunday in Bangkok's northern district which has remained submerged for about a one-month time, according to deputy government spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ad.
Besides, a fleet of 30 utility helicopters of the US Marines will help with the relief missions throughout the suburban Don Muang.
The US Department of Defense also provided water pumps and rescue equipment to cope with one of the country's worst deluges in half a century.
A separate group of 40 US Marines joined villagers and officials of Ayudhya in the cleaning of places which had been severely flooded for nearly two months.
Armed with broomsticks, the American soldiers cleaned up temple lawns, streets and other public spots in Urban Island area of Thailand's former capital.
The US servicemen who have offered a helping hand for the Thai flood victims are scheduled to join an annual Cobra Gold exercise in Thailand during the early part of next year.
